Spring Clips

FAQ

What size barbells do these spring clips fit?

REP® Spring Clips are made for 2" (50 mm) Olympic bar sleeves and won’t fit 1" standard bars; if you’re unsure of your sleeve type, check our guide to barbell sleeves.

When should I choose spring clips instead of clamp-style collars?

Spring clips are a simple, budget-friendly choice for general strength training and quick plate changes; for frequent heavy drops or explosive Olympic lifts, many lifters prefer clamp/competition collars for a tighter hold. REP’s spring clips are a reliable everyday option.

Do spring clips work with bumper plates and iron plates?

Yes—on any 2" Olympic bar, spring clips secure both bumper and iron plates against the collar.

How do I use spring clips correctly?

Squeeze the handles to open the coil, slide the clip fully onto the sleeve flush with the outer plate, then release and confirm the plates can’t move before lifting.

How many do I need, and any upkeep tips?

Use one clip per side of the bar; most lifters keep a single pair handy. Keeping your barbell sleeves clean and dry helps collars slide on easily and hold better—see our tips for caring for your barbell.
