REP’s 5lb Technique Plates make it possible for lifters to start their lifts at the proper height, but with light weight, so they can learn how to properly perform Olympic lifts. It can be dangerous to learn technique with a heavy weight, and it can be difficult to learn with plates that aren’t the standard diameter; the Technique Plates solve both of those issues.
Technique Plates have the same 17.7” diameter as other bumper plates. These plates are made from a durable, hard plastic, although they’re not intended to be dropped from overhead or shoulder height. They feature black weight markings so lifters can easily identify them on the bar. The Technique Plates are sold as a pair, fit on all standard, 2” barbells, and have a 3% weight tolerance.
Can I drop my Technique Plates?
The Technique Plates are made from a durable hard plastic, but they should not be dropped to the floor when loaded on a bar. They are designed with the intent of being a light weight allowing lifters to learn proper technique and form while starting the lifts from the same height as regular bumpers. The light weight should allow lifters to control the bar to the ground rather than dropping it, and will help extend the life expectancy of the plates.
Do REP Technique Plates have a warranty?
Yes, they have a 3-year warranty for home use and a 1-year warranty for commercial use. Please note though, that the warranty is void if the bumper plates are mixed with Hi-Temp style plates. Hi-Temps have a smaller diameter than regular plates, which means a bar loaded with a mix of REP's bumper plates and Hi-Temps will result in the bumper plates taking all of the load, causing them to degrade faster.
